who it's for
All skin types, but is ideal for those with sensitive skin.
key ingredients
Contains 9% Micronized Zinc Oxide and 7.5% Octinoxate, which protect skin from the damage caused by UVA rays. The nanoparticles that Micronized Zinc Oxide contains, protect the skin better than larger particles of other sun protection products. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) helps reduce wrinkles in the skin by maintaining skins natural hydration and assists in the prevention of skin discoloration. It also helps with treating acne.
how to use it
Apply to face, neck, and hands 30 minutes before sun exposure. Use daily.
I thought I would absolutely love this as it sounded so perfect for me, for acne and discoloration (and with niacinamide, what a bonus!), but honestly, Clear SPF46 seems to break me out a little and just doesn't seem as lightweight as their Oil-Free SPF 45. The oil-free just rubs right in and feels dry and greaseless. I have tried so many sunscreens on my quest for the perfect one and I think I've finally found it, but not in this one, in EltaMD's Oil-Free SPF 45!
For years, my esthetician implored me to use sunscreen daily and even though I knew she was right I never did because I'd never been able to find a sunscreen that didn't cause breakouts...until now! Elta MD UV Clear 46 is the ONLY one that actually helped repair my skin and has not caused a single breakout. I have dehydrated, breakout-prone, hyperigmented...lucky me. But, at least I have found a sun protection product that I never go a day without. Highly recommended!
This product is great, so light and absorbs easily, little bit of moisturizer, not greasy. I have combination skin and I can easily layer this under my liquid foundations if I only wait a few minutes. Never had any rolling. I only wish it came in tinted versions like a BB cream.
I like my new suncreen very much. It is the best for my oily skin. I have adult acne and can't use any other lotion. I recomend EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 to everyone.
I've been searching for a high SPF lotion that didn't leave my skin white or shiny and this lotion is wonderful. It disappears in my skin and my mineral makeup goes on perfectly. As I age, I'm super careful about sun exposure and I feel really confident using this product.
I had several samples of Elta MD (UV shield oil-free, the clear and the daily) that I was testing out to see which I like best before ordering. The UV Clear did not wear well under make-up at all. I use a primer before my make-up and I had a feeling it was that. But it balled up no matter how careful I was. It looked horrible. The daily was nice, but I thought the consistency was a little runny. I personally like the oil-free one best and will be ordering it.
I love this sunscreen! My dermatologist highly recommended this one and sells it in her office. I have oily skin and use medication that can cause discoloration when I go in the sun. This sunscreen helps protect from that. I use it instead of moisturizer, it reduces my redness, is not greasy at all, does not sting, love it. LOVE IT! My husband gets eczema and has dry, sensitive skin and I have him use it too. It's great!
I have been searching for years for a sunscreen that won't upset my acne prone skin yet looks good under either liquid or mineral powder makeup. Goes on smoothly, provides great protection and doesn't ball up under makeup. No breakouts and I am on my 3rd bottle.
