| My reason for writing this review is to warn others about this device and Photo Therapeutics Inc.
I purchased this device April of 2009. Prior to using the device I read the manual and even emailed the company additional basic questions that were not addressed in the Manual. I then proceeded to test the device on my arm per the instructions to see if my skin was compatible with the treatment. I had no adverse reaction and proceeded with the initial treatments as recommended in the instructions. I used the device on my face and upper back area for 1 month with no problems.
Then during one Blue Treatment session on my upper back, after just 5 minutes my skin felt like it was burning. When I removed the device there were dark grid marks on my back left from the device. The burn was the exact size of the device and every light bulb had literally burned through my skin leaving a horrible-looking graph on my back.
I contacted Photo Therapeutics Inc. the next morning via telephone and emails. I left messages to which it took them 3 full days to reply. When I was contacted by an individual, he told me that there had been cases of adverse reactions before. The individual I spoke with said that the device had burned through my skin and to apply aloe vera and treat it topically as I would a sun burn. He also said that my device could be faulty and that I would need to send it to them so they could test it. I sent it back at the end of June, 2009.
One month after sending the device in I emailed and telephoned my contact at Photo Therapeutics for an update. I received no response for over a week. Finally, he informed me that there was nothing wrong with my device and that it was my skin that was the problem. He said I had an adverse reaction to the device and that the Company is still deliberating whether to issue me a credit towards another one of their products or refund me.
As of today, over 2 months has gone by since I returned my device. I have still not been contacted. I ended up without the product, out of my $248.10 and the only thing I have to show for it are burn marks on my back that have taken 6 weeks to lighten.
I am extremely disappointed with the device and with this company's customer support. My advice to all is that this product can in fact damage your skin and the arm test will not always reveal whether your skin is compatible with this treatment. |
