who it's for
Ideal for those with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, skin discolorations, and other imperfections who want smooth, even-toned skin.
how to use it
Use on your face, elbows, hands, feet, or wherever you have age spots or fine lines and wrinkles. Works well on surface scars. See instructional DVD and pamphlet for full instructions.
I had severe dark brown acne scars all over my face. They were terrible and I was using loads of makeup to cover them up. I use this product once a week and within two weeks of use I had one of my co-workers comment that my face looked really "fresh." I use it in conjunction with the M2 skin refinish daily which is also great! A word to the wise....if you use the M2 after exfoliating it will burn for a few minutes so if you're really sensitive to this you may want to wait until the next day to apply the serum. Now after a few months I have absolutely no scars! I actually go out without makeup and it feels great! My skin feels tighter and my pores are smaller. Not only did it get rid of my scars but I haven't even had anymore breakouts! I have tried tons of acne medications and treatments and this is the first one that has ever worked for me! My boyfriend still makes comments about how good my skin looks.
I purchased the PMD a month ago, I watched the video and read the instructions. This device eats up my skin. Red skin is one thing but it actually makes blisters on my skin. It sucks the skin in before I can even move the device. I can't imagine anyone liking this little machine. I was so excited to try it and now I'm so disappointed.
When I got this product in I watched the DVD, read the instructions and tried it out on my chest before trying it on my face; I am glad I did all three; not knowing how it truly worked I wanted to try it on a part of my body that would easily be covered (my chest) before trying it on my face. When I tried it on my chest I was left with a bright red circle on my skin for 2 days because I let the device sit completely still when I first applied it to my skin; boy am I glad I learned this on my chest rather than my face! When I got up the nerve to try it on my face I was both nervous and excited; the anticipation was worth it! My skin was smoother and had a glow to it that it had not had in a while! After one use, the fine lines that I have wern't as noticable and my pores were a lot smaller. I can't wait to use this product again. Watching the video, reading the instructions and trying it on my chest helped prepare me to use it on my face; without causing harm to my facial skin. I also use retin'a so I had to stop that treatment 2 days prior to using the PMD and continued using it the next night without any burning. I am so glad I purchased this product and can't wait to see the improvement in my skin with continued use!
I was very excited when I heard so much good feedback about this system. I ordered it without any hesitation. The day after I received my pmd microderm I planned it perfectly that I would use it on a Sunday night and keep up with the weekly treatments. I watched the training video and many other reviews of the product on youtube. This is the worse little machine to use on your face, it is like rubbing sandpaper on your face and giving yourself a scab for a week or so. I was so upset with the results I got after the quick 2 minute use of the pmd. Please do not purchase this device it just harms the skin. After this regretful event I wished I had never bothered to buy the omd and had just went with more natural remedies like lemon juice, mederma cream, or even facials than spending the time and time to heal what bad results I have gotten from this machine.
How often should I change the disc?? I am confused about this. How do I know a disc is used up- by looking at it?? Or by number of times used. In otherwords.... How Many Uses per disc??
The site I purchased my unit from said to use 3 times per disc, then discard, but I would buy a box of alcohol wipes (cheap packets) wipe them and reuse until they are not rough anymore. As a cosmetologist, retired, that is what I would do, but the disc must be completely dry before use. Also make sure to blow out the black filter (ring) inside and or rinse it too & let dry. Fragile, so be gentle.
i've been using the pmd for a few months now and im 18 but like to take care of my face and used alot of peels to try to help with my uneven skin tone but nothing has worked as good as the pmd helps to make my products sink all the way into my skin been using the green disks but going to start mixing it up with red and green for better results love what it has done though so far.
I am 47 years old and have been using the PMD for three months, My skin has fewer wrinkles and pigment spots. My skin also looks brighter and I've been told I now have a "glow", This product is very cost effective. It takes some practice to use it correctly. Also, I change the disks frequently and I think that improves the results. I have already gotten my money's worth many times over. I also use the PMD once a week and I now use the most abrasive disks.

I just ordered the PMD not too long ago. I can't wait to get it in the mail and try it out. I just have a question. What kind of moisturizer or face products can i use after the PMD?
A serum especially for that purpose. Dr. Denese has a .5oz little bottle of serum on eBay for $17 total. If not that serum, get a jel for a soothing effect like aloe vera, then use StriVectin. I buy all on Ebay.
Hi Princess,
The PMD Daily Cell Regeneration System is a complete skin care regimen designed to enhance the effects of the PMD Personal Microderm Device. It deeply cleanses, soothes, revives, and hydrates the skin. You can find it here: http://skincarerx.com/PMD-Daily-Cell-Regeneration-System.html
Another option is the M2 Collection Bundle (http://skincarerx.com/M2-Collection-Bundle.html) and is the highest correlated product purchased with the PMD device.
I have had microdermabrasion treatments on and off for years. The PMD is fabulous, truly Salon/Spa quality results.
My recommendation is watch the video a couple of times then test try the product (blue/sensitive disk) on your legs first until your feel confident to move to your face. And, keep the device MOVING, don't let it rest it on your face.
How long does this item take to ship for those who ordered it?
This is my first time using skincarerx, and their customer service doesn't seem very good - I am unable to reach anyone by phone or email, and even submitting a ticket does not seem to reach anyone. The item says it will ship in one day, but does not appear to be the case. Anyone has any insight or experience? Much thanks -
I got it about a week after I ordered it, and it took me several tries to get through to customer service - they told me they are really busy right now because of the groupon. I would recommend calling in the morning, the earlier the better.
Does this product work for hyperpigmentation? I have spots on my cheeks that I would like to get rid of. I am using RentinA and Obagi, which helps, but the spots are still there. Has anyone found this product useful for this problem?
I sincerely commend the ingenuity of this device which is portable and effective to the treatment of aging. Out of pure love for this system, I purchased it to immediately slow down noticeable signs of aging on my face, and to my pleasant surprise the effect was great. Thanks.
Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with this product. I spoke at length with an esthetician before purchasing and finally decided to do so. I was excited when it arrived and couldn't wait to try it out. I watched the DVD 4x and then practiced on the back of my hand to get the feel so as not to apply too much pressure. I felt confident that I was ready to do it to my face. I started on my right cheek and was ever so careful not to hover & not press too hard. I stretched my skin and took my time. It was slightly abrasive which I expected. After I was done my cheeks were bright red & on my right cheek you could see the lines & the direction I went. I phoned SkinCareRx & spoke w/an estetician who assured me that it was normal for my skin to be red & to see the lines. As the day wore on the redness went away but the lines turned a deep red. It looked like I had a burn! I ended up putting Aquaphor on my skin which was the only thing I could tolerate without stinging. I woke up in the middle of the night & it was worse than EVER! To say I was hysterical would be an understatement. I am devastated at what this system has done to my face! I have scratch marks on my right check. The entire right cheek. I ended up going to Urgent Care to see if there was anything they could give me & told I had superficial abrasions. The doctor feels confident that I will not scar & with time the scabs will heal. However, he did think I will end up with pigmentation for some time, possibly up to 6 months! I now have a follow up appointment with my dermatologist next week. It has been 72 hours since I did the treatment & granted it's less red but none-the-less I look hideous! Either I have super sensitive skin or obviously did something seriously wrong. This entire experience has been emotionally & physically stressful. Lesson learned! Looks like I'll be shelling out money to have the professionals do a dermabrasion on my skin to correct the damange I have created. Please be very careful if you purchase this item as it is very powerful! I am devastated and wish I had gone with my gut instinct and not purchase. The PMD is heading back to SkincareRx as it's not for me!
Carrie-- Same thing happened to me. I have a derm appointment today. I have burn marks all over my left cheeck from the suction and lines all over my face. I watched the dvd and paid careful attention and this happened to me. When I was using the product, it didn't hurt, but afterwards, my skin was burning. PLEASE be careful!!!
I don't usually write product reviews, but this is one product that I found actually lives up to its claims. I've had my PMD system since January, and, at 65, my skin has never looked clearer or healthier. My hyperpigmentation that was very bad on the left side of my face has been reduced drastically and the enlarged pores on my cheeks and nose from oily skin and acne in my younger years are now barely visible. I started out with the medium disks and now alternate between these and the red coarse discs with little to no irritation. I will occasionally have a rosacea breakout, but a once over with the PMD and it's gone by the next day. This was definitely a great investment!
Not only did it get rid of my scars but I haven't even had anymore breakouts! I have tried tons of acne medications and treatments and this is the first one that has ever worked for me! My boyfriend still makes comments about how good my skin looks.
I have moderate acne skin which leaves to scarring after my breakouts. I go faithfully monthly to receive facial and micro derm, which is very cost effective. I am an Afro American woman, which my breakouts for some reason leave dark marks. I was reading all your good reports on this machine. Thinking very seriously about purchasing myself one. Is it very simple and easy to use?
SO today i idid my first microdermabrassion, saw the video 2 times then i started with the blue tip for sensitive skin. I have done laser before for my acne scars and my skin was very tolerant but today somehow when i was doing my left cheek the suction got stuck on it, I have high cheek bones and it had to happened right there. It left me with a really bad burn, it feels so hot and is very red, it really hurts a lot but I can deal with it, i just hope it doesn't scab seeing that will even hurt more( emotionally), will see how it looks tomorrow.
The same thing happened to me except it was on my forehead. It did leave a round red mark/burn. It's not real bad, makeup covers it. But when I wash my face you can see it. It won't go away either. I hope it doesn't happen to you.
Everyone needs to be very careful with this, be sure not to hold it in one spot too long. I also noticed that it was ripping my skin. I have very resilient skin too. I get regular microdermabrasion treatments at my dermatologist. Even though it's expensive, I think i'll stick to the pro's to do it. Needless to say I returned mine. Hope your burn isn't temporary.
I am generally a big fan of this site and the products it carries. But this system is aweful. I purchased the blue/sensitive discs. There is nothing sensitive about these discs. I followed the video directions exactly. The bruising I got on my left cheek tooks weeks to heal and there is still a darker spot where the bruise. Expensive and useless.
I was talking to a friend who got this PMD and loves it - so naturally I knew that I had to get one too and see what the hype was about. I have just come back here to write how much I love the product too and let everyone know that it really has improved my skin. I used to get microdermabrasion done at the spa a couple of years ago but stopped because it became way too expensive. The Personal Microderm really has given me the same amazing results and I can't believe how affordable it is! (You are probably thinking, "Almost $200 isn't cheap!" But when you are paying almost $2,000 for treatments from a professional, you would say the same!) I also wanted to say thanks to the customer service team who walked me through using the product before I tried it the first time. I love this site!
I called in and asked the Estheticians at SkinCareRx about this same question. They said that it is best to have separate disks for each person because if you use the product too aggressively and cut yourself on accident, you wouldn't want to share that disc with someone else. However, they said that if you need to clean it for yourself, using cleaning alcohol would work best.
It doesn't come with a cream, but PMD has its own skin care product line (toner, lotion, serum, etc) that you can use with the product for better results. It is really affordable too. I just saw that SkinCareRx is selling it, although I haven't tried it out yet: http://skincarerx.com/personal-microderm.html
No the product doesn't have a cream that comes with it. I wish that it did. From what I have read the aluminum oxide crystals are on the tips/discs. You can see them better in person. The device has worked wonders for me.
I have acne scars and chicken pock scars on my face and I have seen them diminish substantially since I started using the PMD 2 months ago. It was kind of difficult to get used to at first, but I can see a real difference now that I know I've got the motions down correctly.
This product is the worst. I caution anyone to think twice before buying! I was very careful and watched the DVD, yet I still ended up burning my skin in two areas. It's been three weeks and I still have marks on my face. I'm just over the 30 days to return this expensive and dangerous product. I won't buy anything from skincarerx again! Their return policy is awful.
Why would you blame skincarex for the horrifying experience? They are just offering a product . Most companes are like skincarex 30 days. I have been watching the viideos and reading a lot of reviews. I see more positive than negative. I will be purchasing one very soon. In my findings it says go over the face quickly and dont press down. I plan on practing on my hands first.. YOu might like the Tanda Luxe Red Light therapy system. I just got one 2 weeks ago. Love it. My skin already feels firmer
You have to be really careful when you hold it to your skin, a second too long and it will suck your skin and burn it. The red burn mark won't go away either. It's months and my big red circle is still there. Be careful, what works for some doesn't work for all. I didn't like it, I returned it. IMO micro creams are better....no risks involved!
I\'ve been shopping at SkinCareRx for years now and they shouldn\'t be at blame for the product if it didn\'t work for you. Mine does wonders for me and think its just as good as the microdermabrasion i had done at the spa. All over their site they say \"30 day money back guarantee\" and you should have used the product and made the call before it was too late. The whole time I\'ve shopped with SkinCareRx, I\'ve only had one product not do what I though it should so I returned it right away and got my full amount back. You shouldn\'t be mad at them for your mistake.
Alesha has a right to feel the way she does. I'm sure you'd feel the same way or worse if the product scarred your face. I did, so I know how she feels. Luckily mine is on my forehead near my hairline. So let her voice her opinion just like YOU are!
Kimberly, let the woman have her say. If she had a negative experience it really is not your place to tell her she shouldn't voice it because you disagree!! Write your own review!
Do you work for skincarerx? There is nothing worse than a return policy that has exceptions and days that need to be abided by (it’s shady). They should stand by their product....period. I'm glad you liked the product. I posted my personal review hopefully to help others with the return policy and from potential scarring, after all that is what reviews are all about.
Hi Alesha. No, I do not work for SkinCareRx but would love to if they offered me a job! ha ha. The reason I commented was because this is a product that I really love and a company I love too. I am sorry if it came across rudely last time and I agree that there is nothing worse than a return policy that has exceptions. However, I don't see the exception with SkinCareRx's 30 day Money Back Guarantee if you go over 30 days. If I was in your shoes, I would contact Personal Microderm and settle the issue about getting your money back since they are the ones that manufactured it - or I would just sell it on Ebay. I am sure that you'll get a buyer with how popular this product is.
I buy stuff from them all the time. They match any competitor's discount and 30 day return policy is a good deal. They return stuff without hassle if it doens't work.
Having used the Personal Microderm for a couple of weeks, I am amazed at the results. While, I was a little nervous at the beginning, I watched the DVD and read other reviews, then started with my hands, and knees. Once I gained some confidence, I began using it on my face. Be sure to hold your skin tight and move quickly and you will be fine! I am really excited to see quick results and feel that my face has never looked healthier or brighter. An investment which you will be thankful for again and again!
I am almost 45 years old and have had several professional micro-treatments, this product does just as nice of a job and costs way less. I am on my 4th week of using it and my skin is softer, I am getting ready to step up the abrasiveness on my discs so I expect continued improvement of my skin. I would highly recommend watching the video because it is important to keep it moving so you don't burn yourself. A must for anyone wanting improved skin tone.
This product is easy to use, but difficult to master. I still don't think I'm using it to it's full potential, but with more use I think I will get there. For the price, I think this is a great alternative to professional spa/salon treatments where each session could easily outweigh the cost of this system alone. I've had microdermabrasion professionally done at a Derm office before, and while this isn't AS good, the results are comparable. I don't feel the construction is the greatest, but this fact doesn't get in the way of it's performance. My skin is left soft after every use and has gradually brightened. With continued use I think I'll get my skin back to baby bottom smooth!
I had really high hopes for this product but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. :-( They claim that this is supposed to be "an easy microdermabrasion at home" machine but I found it very difficult to use. It would suction my face to the point where I had to pull it up off my skin. It didn't quite glide as smoothly as seen on the instructional dvd. On the other hand, I got no treatment/suction on my nose whatsoever. When I could make it work for me, it was pretty much just on the side area of my face and I DID see an improvement to the broken capillary and some acne scarring that I have there. I experienced some soreness on those areas after the treatment akin to a sunburn and had some slight redness. It's so frustrating to work with that I didn't look forward to using it and it felt more like a chore. For the money, the difficulty in which it was to use the product and the redness I experienced afterward, I would recommend putting your efforts elsewhere.
Obviously this product is nerve-racking! It is your face! Your precious face! I started on the tougher skin - forehead and nose and it worked great! My skin was red for about 40 minutes and felt puffy, but the results were soft and smooth skin. At $179 it is much cheaper than the spa - so if you are interested in saving money, this product is where it is at!
At first I was seriously nervous about putting a fast rotating disc on my face and having skin cells fly off, but I was super pleased at how well this actually did work! Not only was it pretty foolproof, my skin actually felt and looked better after I tried it. I have medium to dry skin so I was worried about the appearance afterwards, but especially when combined with the skin refinisher and moisturizer, my skin looks great! Definitely recommend!
Wow, Fantastic article, it’s so helpful to me, and your blog is very good,
I’ve learned a lot from your blog here, Keep on going, my friend, I will keep an eye on it,
Hi, interesting post. I have been wondering about this topic, so thanks for posting. I’ll definitely be subscribing to your site. Keep up the good posts
Acne Chicago
I've been using the PMD for a while now and well I can say I'm pretty please with it. The DVD that was provided helped me to get to know my system and how to use it correctly. My Skin feel nice and smooth and really helped with makeup application. Easy to use system that does the Job. I totally recommend this system to anyone. :)
This tool is great! I could never afford the spa/salon prices to get this done, but this tool makes it affordable and works wonders on my skin leaving it fresh and smooth and younger looking. It's easy to use and shows instant results. I recommend it to anyone with problem skin.
I've been using a complimentary PMD system for a few weeks now and I really believe I see a difference in my skin. I've been using it on my cheeks, lower and upper, my forehead, the area near my chin, my chest and hands. My chest has severe sun damage and I've already noticed a smoother, less wrinkly appearance. My face appears to be clearing up as well as I still get acne. My face is softer and has a more even tone. I definitely think it is working and to date, I would recommend the product. I am planning on purchasing the two recommended products that supplement the PMD because I love the sample of M2 that was sent. The system arrives with a very detail oriented yet not over the top DVD that explains everything from setting up your system to warnings on using the product carefully to avoid skin damage. The hand held device is easy to hold, easy to use and cleans up just as easily. The only thing missing is a carrying case but not a problem as one can be found to easily accommodate. I also like how compact it is for those on the go. It only requires a weekly treatment and after the first use, you can already feel your skin becoming softer. I can't wait to keep using it to see the difference after a few months. I am happy with the product and will definitely keep using it.
Judy, I would like to know how you got a complimentary one. I am disabled and on social security but would love to try one. Email me at baaarb@ gmail.com if you want
I've been curious about microdermabrasion for a while, but the cost has prevented me from actually trying it. When I was asked to try home microdermabrasion, I jumped on the chance. The product claimed to give professional results right at home, and at a fraction of the cost. I was particularly interested to see its effect on skin imperfections such as dark spots.
Trying something like home microdermabrasion was nerve racking at first - I was worried about not using it correctly, irritating my skin, looking like a tomato (ala Samantha on Sex and the City after a chemical peel), etc. However, the instructional CD is priceless and gave me the confidence to dive right in! I am now four weeks into using PMD and my skin is noticeably smoother and brighter. The few dark spots I had are also starting to fade - I can't wait to see what my skin will look like after a few months of use!
My advice: For the price of one professional treatment, you can get an excellent tool that you can use over and over again. If you love fresh looking radiant skin, give home microdermabrasion with PMD a try.
I just couldn’t leave your website before telling you that we really enjoyed the quality information you offer to your visitors… Will be back often to check up on new posts.http://www.charmingskin.com
Tthis machine works. After just one treatment I saw results on my face that nothing had previously been able to budge. In my opinion, if you have sensitive skin like I do, it is critical to watch the video and use this machine carefully until you get the hang of it. Yes, it is expensive, but it's cheaper than visits to a dermatologist, and cheaper than multiple microderm abrasion treatments at a spa. Unfortunately I was not able to get the hang of using the tool. I feel like it could be an awesome skin care product and I wish I was able to use it. I couldn't get it to glide across my skin. It would just get stuck in one spot which left me with some scrapes and redness. I am going to try it again in the future and hopefully i figure it out.
I received the PMD kit along with M2 20% serum the first week of March. Since then, I have been doing weekly treatments (7 so far). The condition of my skin prior to this was severe red marks left from a horrible acne 'attack' I had in October and lasted until January. From January and on, my acne had subsided due to the medication I was prescribed. But I was left with nasty red marks and scars. Since I have received my kit and the M2 serum, the marks on my face have lessened. Before, the marks on my face were blood red (you can even say maroon). I have been using Differin .3 as well to help my skin cells turnover faster and as I understand M2 is an AHA and has a similar effect. M2 does burn like no other after the microdermabrasion has been performed, but I feel like in maybe another 2 to 3 months time, my face will be clear of the red marks. I don't feel like the PMD kit will do much for my scars. I will be resorting to Dermarolling and hope that I can induce my skin to produce collagen and repair the damage that the inflammed acne lesions had left. Also, M2 at 20% can be a bit irritating since the concentration is a bit high. I did notice that it caused me to get a tiny zit here and there but as my skin adjusts to the acids, the tiny zits that come up dissipate faster. I will write back in June to address any further improvement. Thank you.
I have used the PMD for a couple weeks so far. The PMD is very easy to use. My skin feels softer. My skin does seem to be breaking out a little bit more, but I think that is becakuse the PMD has taken the dead skin off and the blemshes below the surface are coming out. I don't have the pain or scaring that others have written. I get mild redness initially and then it clears up easily. I wish the PMD came with a bag to store it in as there are small parts that can easily be lost.

While there are many products that promise results and don't deliver there are just as many great products that actually live up to their claims! One of those products that provides visible results is the PMD Personal Microderm system. It left my skin softer and smoother than ever before. My face felt cool, crisp and clean. I could see and feel the difference in a very short amount of time.
Watching the instructional DVD is a must! I also recommend starting out with the blue exfoliating discs on your face until you're familiar and comfortable using the system. The blue discs are milder and more gentle on your skin than the green ones are. I prefer the green exfoliating discs for my heels, elbows and knees!
The PMD Personal Microderm system is easy to use and comfortable to hold. It's also small enough to use at home or while traveling.
I have used the Personal Microderm System for 3 weeks now, once per week. If you receive this product do NOT use it without watching the product demo, this is extremely important, without watching the demo you could seriously hurt damage your skin.
The first day I used the product I was EXTREMELY careful, yet ended up with red streaks down my cheeks which ended up scabbing and some brilliant red circles on my cheekbones....I needed to attend a meeting that evening and quite a few people commented wondering what on earth happened to me. At this point I was pretty leery since I wanted to help my skin not harm it. It took almost a week, but my face healed up and I bravely gave myself a second treatment, it worked perfectly. I think the trick is to be certain you only go over each section of skin only one time and be sure not to hold in one spot for any length of time. After my third week I feel that my skin is much smoother and softer, I did notice the softness immediately.
The downside is that I can't seen to get the hang of using it on my hands, but it's a personal problem and in my opinion it is not a fault of the system.
There are two creams that are suggested for use with the PMD and I think it's a good idea to use them as well. I really like the PMD and do recommend it, just use a gentle hand.
For the few minutes it takes to use the PMD, and the results it has given me I think it is very well worth every penny. At $179.00 it really is a bargain if you compare the price to getting the same results at a Dr. office.
Basically, it exfoliates your skin and this allows skin texture to improve as well as creams and serums to absorb better.
The kit included a charger, the PMD exfoliator, 2 different sized caps, 6 tips (the green one is for tougher skin and the blue ones are for sensitive skin!), an instructional CD and 2 mini serum samples.
What interested me about this product was that it claimed to help with keratosis pilaris (on my arms!)… but I think I would need to use it for more than 3 weeks (I used the blue bit once a week) to see satisfactory results. The product works great as an exfoliator, I can really feel a difference after I use it! My skin became very smooth and soft, though the visible results were not what I had expected. Maybe I should have been using the green bit instead of the blue (meant for sensitive skin)?
But anyway, I’m going to continue trying it out. I guess I won’t be buying scrubs anymore? The PMD is efficient enough on its own.
For anyone else who is interested in the PMD system, it was actually easier to use than I had expected. The fact that it is electronic intimidated me .. especially with all the removable parts but it’s actually quite simple! There are 2 types of bits (as I kept mentioning earlier!): blue (sensitive skin) and green (tougher skin). There are also 2 sizes, bigger ones for the body and smaller ones for harder to reach areas such as elbows or between the nose and the cheek.
The PMD kit actually had many warnings about watching the video before attempting to use the product! Def watch the video first!! (It’s only like 8-10 minutes? I can’t remember exactly how long..) If you hover for too long, it may cause a scab! This really scared me at first so I actually tried it on a piece of fabric first to get a feel for how strong it exfoliates. There was also kind of a loud noise when you turn the product on (which can be intimidating)… but it was actually pretty gentle! I never hovered for too long so I can’t tell you how long it would take to scab. Watching the video will help you get an idea of what kind of pace is average.
Oh and another thing! The product actually works by suction. So the cap sucks onto your skin and exfoliates it as you move it around. It does leave a red mark afterwards, but it faded for me within like.. 3-4 seconds? I didn’t feel any irritation though (and I have pretty sensitive skin! I actually have eczema too .. shhh! ) .
Bottom line:
Rating: 4.3/5
Pros: Very efficient in exfoliating skin, easy to use, not time consuming, easily customizable for your skin type
Cons: Expensive, kind of loud
I also have keratosis pilaris and I'm always on the look out for reviews from others with KP. This PMD system sounds like a cost-effective product that actually works. Are you still using it and have you continued to see good results?
I have really sensitive skin so I wasn't sure how a home micro dermabrasion was going to work. I really hate the larger pores on my nose and forehead so that's where I decided to focus. Because my skin is so sensitive, the blue disc is the right choice for me. It did make my skin pink when I first used it and left it a little sensitive. It went away after only a few minutes but it was a bit tender at first. You don't see immediate change after one use. This is something that you need to use for the entire recommended time but it does make a difference in the larger pores. If you're considering any type of in office treatment, I would definitely say to try this first. It's very easy to use and literally takes only a few minutes a week.
I tried it and my skin must be highly sensitive to it. It cause a burn effect across my face and took a week to heal. My skin was very tender and bled. I honestly don't want to blame the product. I really feel my skin, pores and veins are just too sensitive for the PMD.
I don't have a lot of time to run out to the dermatologist's office. And I don't have a lot of $$$ to spend on treatments either. So this is the a great product for getting great results at home. At a fraction of the cost! It worked wonders on my skin. Read more about it on my blog here: http://www.dandygiveaway.com/2011/04/21/diy-personal-microderm/
I've had my system for the last 3 weeks. After the first treatment I noticed a softer face right away. But now after the 3 treatments, I'm noticing a lighter redness on my cheek & nose area. Those was my problem zones the cheeks and nose. Ive always had redness I had to conceal but I'm already noticing that fading and evening out. I'm totally impressed with this! Love that its simple and quick. 15 minutes and I'm done!!
I had great results with this product. I have to admit that I almost used the product without watching the video first, but was glad I chose to watch the video so that I knew exactly how to use the product. I also love that this product doesn't have to just be used on the face. I'm giving it 5 stars and recommend you try it yourself!
I really like this product and the results. Just make sure you take the time to follow precautions and follow directions for a smooth and successful experience!
In a few short weeks my skin showed amazing results in reducing age spots. Because you can do this more often than going into a dermatologists office, it's much more affordable too. I highly recommend this!
I am madly in love with this machine. After just one use I experienced so many benefits on my face and my chest. Brighter skin, less bumps and just a completely fresher complexion. I am so excited about being able to do this at home without paying hundreds of dollars in a salon. Easy to use and affordable! LOVE IT!
I was a little red right after using it, but after that wears off, it's great!
I've used the Personal Microderm three times. The first time I used it, and mind you I did watch the video three times, It left two abrasions on my right check that hurt for two days. I was brave and used it again the following week with much better results. Be sure to pull the skin taut and continue to move the PMD continuously. If it remains in one area it will abrade the skin. I applied pressure the first time I used it. I will not do that again. Just glide over the skin for best results.
I love my serums but it's not a good idea to apply these directly after a treatment. Wait til later that night or the next day.
My skin is glowing after the third treatment. It feels smoother and my lotions and serums are sinking in better. I will continue to use the Personal Microderm. I really like it. Just be super cautious the firs time you use it!
So I received the Personal Microderm and was very excited to use it. I have minimal acne scars around a few parts on my cheeks. I also have very sensitive skin so I can't use many products effectively. I first watched the video--only 8 minutes--to make sure I was using the PMD correctly. I cleansed my face and patted it dry first. Then I pulled my skin tight like it said to do on the video. I used the blue discs as those are for sensitive skin types. Immediately, there was a suction. It freaked me out at first as I was not expecting it to feel the way it did. I started to glide the PMD along my cheeks, chin and forehead. But I couldn't stop it from creating a suction on my cheeks. About 20 minutes later, I realized that scabs were starting to form on my cheeks! I've only used the PMD once but I'm a bit nervous to use it again because I still have scabs on my face. Interestingly enough, my chin and forehead have no scabs so that may be because those parts of the face are generally more taut. But my cheeks, even though I did pull the skin tight like the video said to do, still formed scabs. Also, use the MD serum and moisturizer the night before you do the PMD not directly after. I did see dead skin cells flaking off when I used it so I do believe it is removing impurities; I just am not certain it's the best product for very sensitive skin like mine. You can go here http://www.ohtobeamuse.com to see a full review of the PMD on my blog.
I was nervous as to if it would hurt or not when I put it on my skin, so I made my husband come in and be the guniea pig, haha and make sure it wouldn't kill me. He said I can't even feel it! So I said good enough and I started out, it barely hurt at all, I made sure to move it how I was shown, and not leave it in one place as that can hurt your skin and will make it raw. So I used the blue tip as it is for more sensitive skin, and since I did my face I thought it would be great. It had great suction and I instantly saw it taking the dead skin cells and it was doing exactly what it said it would! After I cleansed and moisturized skin as it said after the steps I then could see it really made my skin look firmer and healthier! I will say the moisturizer burned a little on my face since it was a bit sensitive after I used the microderabrasion system. It felt similar to a sunburn, and it only lasted maybe 5 to 10 minutes! Plus best of all you can use it on other area's rather than just your face, you can do your hands and arms, this really is a multi-purpose product! So overall my experience with this system is great! I really noticed a difference in my skin after 1 use, and I love it isn't something you have to use everyday to keep your skin looking great. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants healthier skin!
I love this machine!!! I use it once a week!! It softens my face and it also helped reduce the discolored spots on my chicks.Watch the video careful and use as directed. It works great!!!
I'm not sure if I am suppose to pose this question here but I was unable to find an FAQ on this microdermabrasion system. This past november I had a serious breakout which soon was controlled by antibiotics, birth control, and topical differin/duac that was prescribed by my doctor. The severity of it is so bad that you can't see either of my cheeks. They are filled with hundreds of red marks. I have a couple on my forehead as well. Will this product do anything for my red marks? I do have shallow scarring that I hope will diminish with continuous use of this product. I have also purchased the M2 lotion for aftercare. I really don't want to take the laser therapy route and thought that I can do this in the comfort of my home for however often (depending on my sensitivity to the product). Please, for any of you who have used this product continuously and saw a reduction in your red marks left over by acne, I'd love your insight. I haven't left my house for 4 months due to the severity of things and I'm hoping that this product will give me a new life... or my old one back again. :(
I hope this worked out well for you. If I were in your shoes I would consult my doctor on using this product with your condition, it might make it worse. If you haven't been out of your house for four months, perhaps the laser therapy is the best alternative to getting your life back quickly. I'm a huge fan of laser for hair removal and IPL/BBL for removing sun damage, but not familiar with what type of laser therapy is good for your condition. Good luck! If you have been using the PMD Personal Microderm, let readers know how it worked out.
I have used the Personal Microderm for acne scarring and it has helped reduce the discoloration and the uneven texture. I also use M2 to control my breakouts and also reduce the acne marks. I alternate between using the M2 and Neova DNA Repair, which seems to be helping a lot with the scarring. Hope this helps!
I am 27 with oily, dehydrated, congested skin that is somewhat sensitive and prone to breakouts. I was interested in this product because of enlarged pores, and because the norm for me was to have peely bits of dried skin on my face every single day that made applying makeup challenging to say the least. No exfoliating product I tried ever really solved this, and no amount of moisturizer seemed to prevent it from happening. I've been using the unit about every 5 days for a month. I'm not very aggressive with the treatments, because I know my skin's limitations and respect them. After discounts and the skincarerx reward points, I paid just under $100 for the unit, which I think is a good value all things considered. (If I had to pay full price, I'd probably give it 3 stars.)
PROS: I believe the pink marks from my blemishes fade much more quickly, and I've had fewer blemishes. Overall, my skin feels better and just plain looks healthier. The dreaded peelies have been all but eliminated from my life, which is a relief. Results are immediate (face is SO soft!) and I can easily control and adjust the intensity of the treatments based on how my skin is doing at the time. Best of all, I feel like I'm getting more out of the pricy skincare products I already have because products definitely absorb MUCH better.
CONS: Products absorb MUCH better--I found out the hard way when I followed the treatment by using a product with AHA's. It stung like crazy, and over the next few days my face peeled like crazy (I had used the product before and never had such a response to the stuff!). I also had to back off slightly with the retinol products I'm using. Basically, if you add microderm to your routine, you should probably reconsider all the rest of your routine and the products you're already using because they may work more effectively... or even TOO effectively for comfort. My second complaint is that the small cap has what appears to be a manufacturing flaw (the plastic is rough and uneven around the edge where it touches your face, I'm afraid it will trap gunk and bacteria over time.) I had the cap replaced, and the second one I got was even worse than the firs, so that was pretty disappointing. The only other issue is that I wish I could buy just the small replacement tips, because I only use this on my face, and I'm going to wind up with a lot of extra wide ones lying around. Also, a replacement filter should come with each set of tips (really, a filter probably costs the manufacturer less than a nickel and they aren't sold separately.)
After discounts and the skincarerx reward points, I paid just under $100 for the unit, which I think is a good value.
Can you tell me how you got the discounts and skincarerx reward points?
I have had poor skin since I was a teenager. My skin is very sensitive to any moisturizing products and anything with a drying agent as an ingredient. Like you I have the peely bits of dried skin to deal with along with enlarged pores and some scarring. I would really like to try this product. I am in my late fifties and would like to improve my skin appearance.
Thank you for your comments: The cap usually does not have any edges and is smooth. This is very unusual. We will send you a new cap. Please send an email to Kim.nolan10@gmail.com with your information. We do now send a new filter with every box of discs. We started that about 2 weeks ago. We do sell only small discs as well from the home site and or you can order them if you prefer via the 800 #. Some net sellers do not offer all the options.
Enjoy this and keep giving us feedback that we can help with.
Personal Microderm.com
Please update your website to reflect the change to the filters. I was wondering how in the world I would replace those and knowing they come with replacement discs just makes my life easier. Thank you sooooo much! :)
I have suffered with acne for twenty years, i have always had a pretty face and very nice body. I kept my face hid under hair everywhere i went. I been in and out of the Dermatologist for most of my young life. I am now 38 yrs old. I always had low self esteem due to the scars of the acne. The personal Microderm has given me a second life, a chance to come alive and finally to stop hiding my beautiful face behind hair. I'm using the M2 products and they are working really great also. The first time i used the system my face was kinda red, but that did not scare me i just knew to be a little more softer and not stay in one spot to long. I had a treatment today and my skin wasn't red at all. I will still go to the derma for my chemical peels but i believe i found a winner! Thanks to GOD!!!!
I asked for this microderm unit for Christmas. I am always a little skeptical about skin care products due to the fact that I have very sensitive and acne prone skin. I have used this product three times now and am extremely impressed. Not only is my skin smoother after use, but I really have noticed a reduction of fine lines and acne scars. I have also noticed a reduction in the size of my pores and have noticed less blemishes. I know there is not an actual acne cure, but this system has helped reduce my problem. It did take a time or two to learn how to use the system, but the dvd was very helpful and I suggest that everyone watch it. (it only takes a couple of minutes) Also this system is well thought out for sensitive skin because it has different discs for whatever your skin type. Thank you for letting me get my skin back in order!
I have had professional microderm before and loved it. When I saw this product I obsessed about getting it. Luckily my husband got it for me for Christmas and I used it that night. I LOVE IT!!! To anyone thinking about getting this product, watch the video and educate yourself. All of the negative reviews that I have read on this site could have had a better experience with this product if they would have watched the video and used some common sense. If you are using this product correctly it will work wonders! Seriously, When you try a new product on your face, of any kind, be educated on how it works and why it works. If you understand what is happening, and what it is that you are doing to get the desired result, then you should not have scabbing or scratching, or dry red skin afterwords. If you are worried because you have sensitive skin, then use the fine grit (blue) discs and do not do as many passes over the areas you treat. Also I would say don't use the Personal Microderm and new facial products for the first time, at the same time. What I mean by that is use the personal microderm tool first and get used to it, after a couple of treatments, THEN try new facial products like the M2 stuff. You may like the microderm but not the facial products. If you don't try this you will never know how great it is and all of us that have it and use it correctly will have the beautiful skin you desire, and too bad for you. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it, and I have only done 2 treatments. Best Christmas present ever!!!!
My mom told me about what an amazing thing Personal Microderm was. I thoguth that it was a cool little tool and that it could make a big difference for those with age spots and wrinkles. I have never had great skin and I have also battled acne since puberty. I am now 25. I gave Personal Microderm a try and I cannot believe the results I got from only one treatment. I also used the M2 products that are sold on this site and I have never felt my skin so soft and refreshed in my whole life!!!
When I got home my husband commented on how amazing my skin looked. ;) I was a bit scared to use the product because I knew it was going to suction to my face, but I loved it! When I finished the treatment I could literally see clumps of dead skin in the filter! Nasty, I know, but I knew it worked well because I could not only SEE and FEEL the difference but others noticed as well. Since the first use I have used it 3 times and my pours are smaller, my face is less oily, and I have never gotten so many complements on my skin. I am totally sold and I have sold 3 to family and friends! ha! It's amazing and I reccommend this product to all those who think that they are too young to use it! It is amazing!
O.K. I got this the morning of christmas eve and couldn't wait to use it. I was a little afraid because of some of the comments about scabing and etc. but I watched the video and went to the bathroom and used it while my husband was sleeping. Had no problem at all !! I could actually see it making a difference as I used it! After washing and cleaning up I went to get my husband up. He got up and kept stareing at me knowing nothing..and I said "i got my microderm this morning and used it already" and he said "OMG so thats what it is I could see something was different but didnt know what it was. He told me I looked fresh and smooth and i had no makeup on except eyeliner and mascara. My daughter said the same thing when she came over by the way she is 27 just to let you know i am not a young woman. So I am sold and cant wait to use it next week to see any difference..I will let you know :)
I wanted to like it. I used that 4 times (blue disc) and each time my face was very flared up for 3 days. It was smooth and a bit more even out, but I prefer just to use M2 line, which doesn't make my face that red and oversensitive. I think this is great idea for regular skin, not sensitive.
I have had this thing for over two months and I can tell you - the two age spots I wanted to go away - are almost gone!! This thing is just like going to the spa without all the extra $$$. My skin has never looked or felt better and I haven't had a single issue with it! But YOU MUST be careful with it! You can easily go over an area to much and make it really red or scrape away skin. I go over my acne and scabs and have never had an issue with it. I have super sensitive skin so I had to start with the sensitive discs - and haven't had a problem. This thing is AWESOME and is totally worth every penny!! Don't listen to any negative reviews - if you use this thing PROPERLY like the video suggests you'll find yourself SUPER HAPPY you spent the money!! I AM!
Well I just received my kit and I was so excited to try it. First let me say it has been several hours and my skin feels like it has been ravished, not to mention that the M2 burmed like holy hell. I am afraid that when I wake in the morning I am going to have scabs on my face. I will have to learn to be a little less heavy handed. I will update this review once I have a few treatments done to give an accurate review, but out of the gate I can honestly say that I dont know if this product is for me, or just an impulse buy.
These products both give great results however putting the m2 skin refinish on right after the Personal Microderm treatment will obviously be very spicy on the skin. Use the m2 everyday except the days when you do your PMD treatments until you are sure your ready for it.
I have sensitive skin and I would have to say that this product is not great for us. It works a little too well sometimes - its like a little mini dermabrasion machine. Great for people with tough skin - not so great for those with delicate skin. I can use it on my forehead and nose occasionally, without too much problem, but I avoid the cheek and neck area - otherwise it leaves me red and irritated. Plus, I've discovered it is super important to watch the video and read the instructions cause you have to do it right to avoid injury. I hope your skin recovered okay.
I don't know, I tried it last night, and although I know I didn't rub my face too hard, I have a huge red scratch on my skin from this item. Hopefully it will go away.
so the huge red scratch is now a huge red SCAB smack in the middle of my cheek. hopefully this wont scar. I would not recommend this product at all to even my worst enemy. Nadene, how did your skin turn out?
I have very delicate skin and decided to get a micro done at my friend's spa to help with acne scaring. my first session she did the micro which hurt like hell then put an acid peel on after it saying it would help my results. well the peel basically burned my sensitive skin off and I to had the scabbing effect with scaring. to this day she says its superficial scaing and i spent over $500 on more gentler micros and laser to correct her mistake.
Didn't believe it would really work - BUT boy was I surprised. Love, love, love this product!!!! Would highly recommend for anyone who wants cleaner, clearer, smoother skin. Don't waste your money going to a spa for microdermabrasion - do it yourself with this easy to use tool. SkinCareRX you need to also sell the filter.
I love this, it has saved me spending $100 a shot at the spa's and it gives me the same treatment, I use it once a week and see the difference in my aging skin, it leaves it soft and supple. It takes a day to wear off the tenderness, but think about it, you are taking off that dead layer of cells and coming up with a new soft, supple layer. I wish they sold the filter, I need to replace mine but can't see it as an option in accessories to this item, does anyone know where you can buy a repl filter? This is so worth the money and 20% off right now!
I did not want to even try this tool because I am so fearful of harming my skin. I have heard that microderm can be rough on your skin. I reluctantly agreed with my friend to try hers out before I bought my own. I tried it for three weeks. The very 1st time i used it my skin felt much softer and smooth. it was not painful at all in fact It felt very good and tingly when I put on the cell renewal lotion right after the treatment. By the 3rd use I had become more proficient with using the tool and cannot believe the difference in my skin. I have purchased my own now and will use it for the rest of my life. I will not need to go spend lots of money at the doctors office now. This is an amazing little find for me. Great job who ever came up with this idea.
My skin is a little dry(not overly) and I was excited to use this to make my skin really smooth. The day after I used it, my skin was smooth and makeup went on really well. The next day my skin was extremely dry(peeling)-more dry than before I used it. I tried it over a 5-6 week time period-making sure to use it only 1 time per week and tried both the blue and green attachments. I always had the same result.
did you use a good cell renewal and rejuvenation cream morning and night each day in between treatments? if you use good lotions and creams daily the dryness should not be happening.
Perfect for Acne Prone Skin!!!

I have used this at home microdermabrasion kit only two times and I have noticed a remarkable difference in my skin--even from the first time! I am a 25 year old female who had fairly good skin, free of blemishes, but recently due to hormonal changes I am breaking out.. I have tried various products, but nothing seems to work and when I used this treatment for the first time it dramatically reduced the size of my facial acne.
I have before and after pictures here:
http://aprilathena7.blogspot.com/2010/10/personal-microderm-system-review.html
In addition to that, the Personal Microderm System leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft!
It's too early to state any other results, but so far so good! I am definitely going to use this product once every two weeks or even once a week! It's so hard to stay away from this treatment!
You can save $30.00 with coupon code "APRILATHENA". (No comission received, just a helpful discount code)
I've been using this system for a few weeks now, and I'm really impressed with the results! I was hesitant about using something that appeared to be so abrasive on my sensitive skin, but after the first couple of uses I got the hang of it. My skin is a little pink after using the system, but the effect is only temporary, and afterward my skin feels incredibly soft and smooth. I've noticed that my acne scars have been fading faster, and I don't need to use as much serum/moisturizer on my face because it is absorbed better. I would say that if you get regular microdermabrasion treatments at a spa or from a dermatologist, this would be a great alternative to help you save money and get fewer treatments. It's one of the most expensive skincare tools that I own, but it's a worthwhile investment.
Great product!

I've been using this for about a month, and I can honestly say that I love it. While it took me a while to get the hang of how to use it, but after that it's been smooth sailing. It leaves my skin soft and glowing for days, unlike traditional scrubs that only offer immediate result. It is more of an investment, but trust me, it'll do wonders for your skin.
When I first received this, I was really scared to use a product that kind of grinds your skin... hehe~ I took a star out because it did hurt for couple of usage. Either I have really sensitive skin or it could be mentally. Anyways, I was skeptical that it wouldn't improve my skin. It didn't improve after first usage but it got better as time went on. I am hoping as each time I use this, it will get rid of my freckles and sun spot. It definitely helped my pores though and my skin seems smoother! :)
I've only had the chance to use the Personal Microderm a few times (as it's a once-a-week treatment), but each time my skin has emerged softer and smoother and much, much happier. So far, I've stayed with the little blue discs, because they offer a milder exfoliation, but when I get the guts to go for it, I'm puttin' on the green one. (Just so you know, each disc lasts for about three treatments). Here's the thing, the texture of my skin has improved in just the three short weeks that I've been using it, and though it's is still a very far cry from that of a porcelain beauty, I can already feel my confidence building around the skin I'm in... which has always been acne prone and not very smooth. I can't wait for the next treatment, because I know that each time I get better results.
i've had professional treatments before (when I had more time and more money / before kids) and to me, this is equivalent. I certainly hope to see better results in clearing my skin as I continue to use it.
I bought my personal microdem about 2 month ago. I only used 3 times, my skin started peeling. I wasn't sure if my skin is too senstive or it suppose to be like that, so I stpped use it for a month, and my skin went back to normal again. I wanted to give another try 2 days ago, I turned it on and it was broken already, very disappointed! I am waiting customer support line give me an answer how to return it if I have lost my receipt, but it has been 3 days havn't heart anything back! plus i live in UK, wonder I have to pay postage or not!
You probably burned the motor up with the 220 volts in the UK. It is not made for Europe. You need an adapter to use it there.
You may have sensitive skin and need the soft disc.
Call the customer service department where you purchased the product and they should send you a replacement. I had problems with my Personal Microderm and they replaced what I was missing.
I just received this on Sept 29th and used it for the first time.I have light-fair skin and mild redness in my cheeks. My skin is most certainly on the sensitive side so I used the blue exfoliating disc(larger one for face and smaller one for around nose, chin, areas on forehead). Even the blue one made my skin a light-pink tone after wards and now my skin feels incredibly smooth. There's nothing better than smooth, healthy and vibrant skin. :)
I'm gonna continue to use this for the next 2-4 weeks and then post my thoughts. But, thus far, It gets a thumbs up for me. Now it's finding out how long the discs last, etc.
I received the Personal Microderm to review about 2 weeks ago, and so far after 2 treatments, I couldn't be happier. My skin is glowing, and oh-so-smooth that I just want to touch it all the time! At first I had my doubts and fears. Doubts because I wasn't sure if I'd like microdermabration as I have never done it before, and I wasn't sure if the Personal Microderm would do what it claims without harming my skin due to its abrasive nature. Fear because I have very sensitive and acne-prone skin, and with my wedding coming up in 3 weeks, I was really afraid that my skin would react badly to a new treatment. But after reading some reviews on the site here and learning all the positive experiences people had with the Personal Microderm, I decided to give it a try right away, and I am so glad I did. I haven't broken out a single time since I started the treatment, and now a week away from the wedding, I plan on doing another treatment this week to get my skin into top notch condition and picture perfect. I noticed a significant lightening of my acne scars on my cheeks, and I can only imagine with continued usage, what benefit it could have on my skin. I highly recommend you to give this a try, it is really easy to use even for someone who's doing microdermabration for the first time. And one set comes with 6 replacement discs enough for at least a dozen treatments, for the price of one treatment if you were to go to a spa or dermatologist. So it is a great way to give microdermabration a try, or if you are someone that goes to do professional microdermabration often, then you can keep this kit at home to give your skin a pick me up in between the more expensive treatments.
OMG!
I just received my personal microderm on 8/27/10 and after only one treatment I noticed a difference %u2013 and I am still seeing the difference 4 days later! UNBELIEVABLE! I can only imagine what my skin will look like after several treatments! This is one of the best investments I have ever made! I currently pay $250 every 6 weeks for professional microdermabrasion treatments in Washington DC - and I am not exaggerating the results are identical! Needless to say, I have cancelled my upcoming appointment and will gladly keep the extra $$$ in my pocket!
I am so thrilled about having this system I want to cry!
BUY THIS AND I PROMISE YOU WON%u201DT REGRET IT!!!!
i just recieved my personal microderm. they say for best results you should use the M2 or the Boske product. I wasnt sure which one so i bought the M2 with the cleanser, recovery moisturizer, skin refinish 12%. I am not sure when I should put on the skin refinish 12%.. It does not say anything about when to put it on when watching the CD that was included in the package for the microderm. pls help... !! thanks..

A good toner for oily skin...DDF Glycolic 10% Toning Complex
The M2 and Boske are 2 different products. The M2 is going to help with exfoliation and the Boske is going to correct all the damage we did to our skin that we did when we were younger.
I've never used this product but I'm also thinking about ordering it myself. Ever since I was 15 I have had break outs around that time of the month. Nothing where my doctor wants to put me on any type of medicine but enough to bother me. Recently while I was getting a Isolaz treatment done ( this will also really help with your acne) my dermatologist told me about a product called Clenziderm Pore therapy toner. i have been using it for about a month and the results are better then anything I've ever tried before. You can also get it for half the price on amazon then you can here. Give it a try you will love it. Good luck!
I am responding to your question about a good type of toner for oily acne skin. I am almost 50 and have suffered from cystic acne since I was about 20. I have NOT yet tried this microdermabrasion system, or any microdermabrasion system (or professional system). So this is just purely what toner has been good for me. Toner's may work differently if someone is using microderm. I have found that a toner with tea tree oil and/or green tea is the most soothing and seems to help heal my acne. The most recent one I purchased is from LUSH which can be purchased at some Macy's or on line. It does not contain alcohol. I carry it around and spray it on when I have a break out or even when I work out. (comes in spray bottle). I do not work for Lush. They have several toners depending on your skin type.
I have to admit I didn't expect much...I've bought sooooo very many skin products and been disappointed in the end that I thought the same thing would happen here. Luckily, I was sent the product to review so didn't need to shell out yet more money for something I expected to not work.
But after using the system just two -- TWO -- times I noticed a smoother, clearer complexion. My skin is "thick," so I used a lot of pressure and the "head" with the most grit. I experienced very little irritation, which calmed down quite a bit after applying some moisturizer. I also didn't wear makeup for the rest of the day to give my skin a chance to rest.
Since I've been using the system, I've noticed my VERY OILY skin is less so and my VERY CONGESTED PORES are also less so. It's really made a difference in those two areas.
One little-expected benefit has also been how much smoother and even-toned the back of my hands look. I used the system on that area, again not expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised. Since I turned 40, my hands have looked like they're 80, so thank God I can do a little something about that.
I used to get professional microdermabrasion several times a year (at $50 a treatment), so it's nice to be able to do this myself on a regular basis without paying an arm and a leg.
I'm very happy.
I gave four stars because I've only used the product a month and reserve full awesome ratings for after I've had a chance to see how it performs over time.
After using this for a couple of weeks, my skin already feels much softer and I can tell that the spots are slowly lightening up. I like that I only have to use this once a week and it's quick and easy. I don't have to get dressed and go to an appointment to have it done. That is a huge plus for this stay at home mom. The other big plus is I am saving money.
I will admit that since I have never used something like this, I did have a learning curve and learned that I need to be very gentle when using it. Using the Personal Microderm does not hurt me while using it, however my skin burns a bit and is very sensitive afterwards. To me, it feels somewhat like a sunburn. When I put the recommended aftercare products on (I chose the M2 Skin Refinish and the M2 Skin Recovery Moisturizer), it stings a good bit for about a minute (like a sunburn under a warm shower). After that though, it just goes back to the mild sunburn feel. I have quite sensitive and fair skin so I know this may vary depending on your skin type. The Personal Microderm works by removing the stratum corneum. It's the thin layer of skin cells that prevent lotions from absorbing into the skin. That's what the white dead skin was on my skin.
I have found that using a softer touch and not pressing down so hard is best for me. The very first time I used it I scraped my cheeks because I pushed too hard for my delicate skin type. Now that I know to use a very light touch I don't have this problem. I now just have some redness (that again looks like a mild sunburn) in the areas I used it on for about a day. Please be sure to watch the instructional DVD online on their website or the one included with the product as it gives information on this. I suggest starting with a very light touch then working up to what you are comfortable with if you do try it. I did a review on the M2 products in January and you can read that review here.
I have also started to use it on the scar on my arm. I have only used it one week on my arm and hope to see results soon. I wanted to wait a few weeks to do my arm to make sure that I had the process down.
I was sent a Personal Microderm to review. To see my full review and a video of me using the Personal Microderm, go to http://www.potamusprefers.com/2010/08/personal-microderm-video-review.html
I loved this product. It definitely has a great return on investment, you will save in the long run by doing this at home instead of at the spa. Also, with my sensitive skin which turns red at any time didn't turn red at all. You definitely see a difference after two or three uses. Small and portable enough to stay in your bathroom. Check it out!
I was pleased with the results. It%u2019s not hard to use, but there is a quick video to watch first. It feels a bit sand-papery, and there%u2019s a mild suction that feels funny but isn%u2019t painful at all. When I was done, my skin was soft and silky smooth, and I think my acne scars even faded a bit, but it%u2019s hard to be sure. I can%u2019t wait to see how my skin looks after using the system for a few more weeks.
I%u2019m definitely making this at home microderm a regular part of my routine, and I can%u2019t wait to see how my skin improves over the next few weeks.
I was asked to review the Personal Microderm, a microdermabrasion at home product by SkinCareRx. I'm not sure how this relates to organizing, but who would refuse?
The personal microderm is easy to use once you get used to it. It is a small hand-held appliance with two sizes of rotating heads - one for the face and one for the body.
It only took a few minutes to go over my face and hands, the areas I was most concerned about. Both areas look improved after just three uses. And it's so nice to use it right at home
Personal Microderm System review
I would like to first start by thanking SkinCareRx for giving me this wonderful opportunity to try the at home personal microderm system and the chance to share my own review. I absolutely enjoyed my time using this product. I personally have tried microderm systems that a dermatologist offers in their offices. I must say this little hand held system can really measure up to thr doctor%u2019s machine.
Product description
- Achieve amazing anti-aging results at home with Personal Microderm System. It works just like a professional microdermabrasion treatment without the hassle or cost. The hand-held device uses the same aluminum oxide crystals as the ten thousand dollar machines found at your doctor's office. It smooths away dead skin cells, diminishing age spots and other signs of aging
- The system includes 1 personal microderm, 3 exfoliating discs (2 green and 3 blue), 1 electric cord (Standard U.S. Outlet), 1 facial cap, 1 body cap, 1 reusable filter, Instructional CD and Pamphlet.. (http://skincarerx.com/Personal-Microderm-System.html)
I started off with using this product on my hands once a week with the large green disk. The first time I used the product I was astonished at how much softer my hands felt. I have very rough hands so this system was an amazing addition to my skin care routine. I have not tried the product on my face yet, but will be doing so very soon.
Pros
- Leaves skin silky smooth
- Price is great considering it does the same thing as the overly expensive doctor%u2019s machines.
- Reduces the look of fine lines.
Cons
- Really cant find any!
I have enclosed three pictures of my hand, same hand in both pictures. The first is the before and the second is the after shot. You may not be able to see much of a difference, but I am telling you now there is a great amount of difference in the texture of my hands. My boyfriend even mentioned the other day that my hands are so much smoother! The third picture is just an example of how it looks after the product is run across your skin. This product is painless and well worth the money.

Cleared up what other home microdermabrasion products couldn't!!!
I have tried other home microdermabrasion products before. One being the Mary Kay Timewise Microdermabrasion which did make a small difference, but the results only seemed to go so far. My acne scars never faded, I still had mild acne and some uneven skin tones. I knew that if I wanted a complete change I would have to look into something more professional and more expensive. Pretty much I decided to give up. Until the Personal Microderm....
After just one week my skin felt moisturized and smooth. After using only 3 weeks I was sold. My acne has almost completely gone away, my deep acne scars have faded tremendously and my skin tones are so much more even. This is so worth the money and over all saves you money and time. I am sold!!!!
I heeded the instructions to only use once a week however, Id like to use this every day! Using it once a week helps remove dead skin and leaves my face feeling super soft. A light suction will remove the dead skin cells while a gentle abrasion takes off the top layer of skin. Make this one part of your skin care regime.
With each treatment, I love the Personal Microderm more and more. I can see a difference in my skin, from the diminishing age spots and freckles to the wrinkles. This system has given me confidence in my skin. I am loving the way my skin feels and looks!
Great Product

You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on sessions at the Spa when you can achieve some pretty good results just by using Personal Microderm. I've only used this system 3 times and already I have noticed an improvement in my skin's texture and appearance. It does a great job exfoliating the skin and making it feel rejuvenated. Great investment and I would definitely recommend it.
I constantly advocate for stepping up your anti-aging routine at an early age. I%u2019ve been doing peels and regular exfoliation since I was 21. Now my advice is not to get overly aggressiveve, but gentle exfoliation, starting at maybe once a week is imperativeve for healthy glowing skin. If you are looking for an alternative to spending hundreds of dollars a month on professional micro dermabrasion treatments, consider Personal Microderm!
A Good At Home Option

I tested this device for Skin Care Rx, who gave me a system for purposes of a review on my blog. I found that it was very easy to use and had the immediate effect of softer and brighter skin. I also felt that it helped some with my adult acne. I have done two treatments and like it overall. I have melasma and have not noticed an effect on that yet, but would not expect to after only two treatments. It certainly exfoliates better than anything else you can get at home, so I have high hopes for it. At $179 it is much more affordable over time than getting professional treatments. The blue tips are quite gentle, so sensitive skin types can use those with little pressure, while those like me with tough skin can use the green with more pressure. This makes the device very versatile. I definitely recommend it.
I also had melasma and saw a plastics doc for it. He prescribed me something called 'Triluma' (I believe) ... a cream you put on the melasma for 30 days ... it actually worked for me. It is not cheap, it was around $180 and NOT covered by insurance, but the best $180 I've spent to remove this discoloration. Ask your internist or other doc if they can give you a script for Triluma - it's fairly new (last year or so) but it did help me. Now I am looking to do the microderm .... I may just try this product.
Personal Microderm is an at home microdermabrasion system. I had been fearful of trying these in the past, but this was very gentle and there were no side effects at all. The kit came with both written directions and a video to watch and it was extremely easy to use. While Personal Microderm can be used on many parts of the body, I have only used it so far on my face and hands and have been very pleased with the results. At home microdermabrasion was much easier than I thought it would be, at least with Personal Microderm. I'm scared to even color my hair at home. And the kit even comes with a serum and a cream for your face to use after the treatment. I can't say how this product will work on everyone, but I for one, love it.
Great Value

It's been three weeks, and I am excited to continue using this and watching my acne scars fade. It is so much more affordable than going to a spa! I love how everything is presented to you, a very easy tool to use that isn't at all intimidating.
I've struggled with acne most of my life and my face is proof of my battle. The system has decreased my scars, large pores and made my skin noticeably smoother and healthier.
My face glowed for a good 6 days after using the Personal Microderm. People noticed it and I did not need my makeup. I consider this a very, very good thing. It evened out the redness in my face. And the best part is that I only have to replace the discs every 2-3 months. For $15, this is a great deal after the initial investment. My skin is beyond super sensitive and I have seen no ill effects from using Personal Microderm, though everyones skin is different.
this is really an amazing product! After a few treatments, blackheads are disappearing, pores minimizing, and skin is smoother in texture. Great price for the relative skin treatment. Exfoliates WAY better than scrubs or gritty lotions.
Exfoliation should be part of everyone's regular skin care routine, and this little machine offers deeper exfoliation than most of us would be able to do on our own at home. There are discs for your face and body, though I've only tried the face discs so far. The body discs are still somewhat small, but I think I'll end up trying them on my chest and hands.
I had no problems with over exfoliating any areas, just keep the machine moving and you should be fine! I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and I have definitely noticed smoother skin, smaller looking pores and fewer blackheads. Treatments are fast and easy!
The great thing about this system is overall improved, smoother skin. There is a danger though. You need to keep the machine moving & not stay in one place for too long. Otherwise you risk penetrating to deep (I accidentally did this & got a couple red marks. I'm clumsy. :-( ). However, this machine does come w/both paper instructions & an instructional DVD (Yes, I did watch it. Attentively.). So, if you're not clumsy like me, you should be ok, lol. In spite of my clumsiness, my results overall were actually pretty good! I don't see a sign of dryness on my face & my face feels smoother than it has in a long time! Overall, I do recommend it. You just need to be really careful. Clutzy people like me? Even more so! Lol.
I have struggled with problem skin for almost my entire adult life. I have horrible acne scars, large pores, and constant breakouts. While I have found products to help diminish breakouts, I hadn't found anything that would truly help the large pores and scars...until the Personal Microderm. After one treatment, I could feel that my skin was noticeably smoother and my pores already seemed a bit smaller. After three treatments, I can barely see my pores anymore and my skin is looking better and better every day. I LOVE this product and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone with problem or congested skin.
I wasn't really paying attention to my skin until I reached 30. Age spots and fine lines started to appear and I tried several ways to preserve the youthful appearance of my skin. This tool is a great investment especially if you're on a tight budget. I cannot afford to go to skin clinics and day spas all the time. Tip is to use a light hand when doing the treatment. I made a mistake by putting too much pressure on it and it caused a small red spot on my face. Thankfully it's not painful and can easily be covered by concealer. It will work as expected when used properly. I definitely recommend this item!
After watching the included DVD, I found the system quick and easy to use. After two uses, my hands are feeling much smoother. With continued use, I hope to see an improvement in the coloration as well.
I have been using once weekly for 4 weeks now and the results have been very impressive! Once you get the hang of it , it is very easy to use. My skin is smooth, complexion more even toned and vibrant, and fine lines and wrinkles reduced. Like many others, I was hesitant to purchase but this device delivers! Anxious to see the results over the next few months - Highly recommended!
I have been using this on my elbows and feet and even my face they all feel smoother and look great. The wrinkles in my forehead are noticeabley finer and less noticeable. all the dry flaky skin is gone I love it!! Its so easy!
I LOVE this product. It performed exactly as advertised and left my skin looking smoother, younger, softer and refreshed. It exfoliated my skin to perfection and best of all, I was able to get "professional" results from home.
51 year old and trying to hold on to my young looking skin
Worked great once I got the hang of it. Make sure you feel and hear the suction happening. I went back and watched the video after using it a couple of times and that helped. I also like the M2 exfoliating cleanser. That combination is awesome.
I love the personal microdem! I have had midroderms for years. Some were good, others not so good. I like having the ability to control the areas I work on and felt the tool was everybit as effective if not more than salon equipment I saved time and lots of $ having the kit in m home. Very user friendly.
I am loving my new personal microderm that truly lives up to its claim: immediate improvement! I am a licensed Esthetician and perform as well as receive professional microdermabrasion treatments...I purchased this product thinking that it could maintain the results from my professional treatments. After using the personal microderm for 3 months now, I can honestly say that the results are very similar yet the personal microderm is more convenient and so much more affordable than the professional treatments. After only the first treatment my skin couldn't feel softer, it glowed and looked clear. After the second, it remained just as glowing and my skin tone and evenness continues to improve along with increase in radiance and brightness. SOLD!
I've used this two times so far and noticed an immediate improvement. I've been trying to fade age spots on my face. This is working! I', proud of me for buying it -felt like a little bit of a risk, but it's not. I will save so much money now and time. This is perfect and easy. Yea.
I thought it might be somewhat of a gimmick. It isn't.... it really works. I have seen the age spots on my hand fade in just 4 weeks of treatments. It is a great tool and has saved me a lot of time and money.
I was a bit skeptical initially about the home use personal Microderm UNTIL I took the ten minutes to study the instructions and put it to use. I am sold and to prove it, I sold 3 the following day. It literally took me 10 minutes to give myself a full facial treatment.
I am a licensed Esthetician and have used many products over the years. This one is a winner!
i just ordered my kit today, and i'm so excited i was just wondering how long before it comes in and since its my first time using the microderm well actually my first time doing it at all in genaral. could anyone give me any advice on it?
