I do agree that this product has a smell when you initially put it on, but it does dissipate. Unfortunately, later in the day, it starts to smell funny again. It DOES work, and works well, so the smell is something I just deal with.
Had this product for about 4 months and noted the color kept getting darker. It was stored on a dresser out of the sun. Manufacturer should do a better job, with short expiration dating and let customers know what to look for when product is opened if it's on it 's way of being oxidized or damaged. Paid to much money for this to happen.
Response regarding color or darkening of CE Ferulic0
Any time air comes into contact with a Vitamin C product, oxidation takes place and the product can darken. This does not mean the product is bad or has expired. Google and read about this process and that it is still effective. Your product should still be fine.
I have contacted Skinceuticals directly and they said that the serum is still effective, even if the color becomes slightly darker (it is normal for vitamin C to slightly oxidise). The formula is designed to be stable for 6 months after opening it.
I'm a 48-year-old female with combination skin, and since I started using Skinceuticals' C E Ferulic, I've gotten many compliments about my skin. It feels tighter and glows.
I don't appreciate the fact, though, that Skincare Rx sends emails with pictures of C E Ferulic on it, saying "20% off!" only to discover upon checkout that the picture of C E Ferulic was only a tease. I have sensitive skin prone to hormonal breakouts. I started using skinceuticals age and blemish serum in the morning after my toner and their retinal 0.5 at night. I also have hyperpigmentation and I want to use this product. Do I stop using the blemish stuff or the retinol?
OMG! After years of trying so many product that did not work, I finally found this product which I saw results the next day. I have suffered from hyperpigmentation all my life and this product is working and no break outs. Yeah!
I too have acne prone skin even at age of 47. Just recently I have noticed several sunspots on right side of face near temple area. I don't want to treat my whole face. I just want the spots to fade. I have not been tanning for years so I'm already paler than pale. I live near the beach so staying out of the sun is not an option. I do wear 35 sunblock but the spots are still there and seem to be increasing!!!!
Take note ... When you receive the CE Fuerlic serum, it should be CLEAR to LIGHT yellow. If it is dark yellow or brown, return it. It's been sitting on the shelf too long and has oxidized, thereby losing its effectiveness. Do not leave it sitting on the counter exposed to daylight; keep it in a drawer. Do not keep the top of the bottle off for any length of time because air oxidizes it as well.
I only buy mine directly from Skinceuticals.com, so I know it's fresh. This product smells like liquid hot dogs, but the smell dissipates because you apply other products over it like moisturizer and sunblock, after waiting 5 minutes.
This is mainly a preventative treatment. It's a boost to your sunblock and protects your skin better than sunblock alone. It also neutralizes free radicals to prevent further pigmentation. I do like this product a lot and highly recommend it. I just wish it was packaged in an airless pump bottle.
great product and nice smell. I used to hate the smell but now i even kind of like it. the product is great. definitely makes the skin eventoned and furthermore it also strengthens the skin i believe. also good for acne i think.

I have used CE Ferulic for four years, and I love it. I love the smell -- don't even understand what people are complaining about. It has a nice citrusy smell, and it leaves my skin smooth and softly glowing.

Having realized the TRUE benfits of using antioxidants vitamin C, and Vitamin E, this serum contains them at a plentyful amount along with ferulic. I did some research to find a comparable product which had the same, if not better skin results to save. I came across Cosmetic Skin Solutions ferulic serum version. After having used it for 3 months, my jaw line is firmer, skin is better toned, with my red splotches having disappeared! It absorbs quickly with only using a few drops for spreadabiltiy.Their version is quite amazing and I have switched for good to Cosmetic Skin Solutions Ferulic serum with Vitamin C and E!!
I used that cheap version from the other company you mentioned and it did absolutely nothing. I may as well have been putting water on my face. I'm certain the ingredients they use are inferior. I also don't trust the reviews on their website. They're either filtering the reviews and putting up only the positive ones or making them up themselves. I suspect you are from that company and are only here to advertise.

I have been using that “cheap version” as you call it, for several years, the Cosmetic Skin Solutions version is very comparable, and the ingredients are not inferior. All their products are fresh and high quality. I have experienced amazing results. Like Liliana, my skin is also better toned and redness is gone. As far as not trusting the reviews on their website, I left a review there and I am not “from that company” but just an ordarnary customer, and I suspect that actually you are the one “from that company” and are here to knock the less expensive competitor.
I have tried them all...this and the Vivier CE Kinerol (which unfortunately skincarerx does not sell, but hopefully will in the future!) are the best. Both really brighten and make a noticeable difference in the appearance of your skin--including fine lines. This has ferulic acid, which gives it an edge over Vivier. Very gentle--does not sting upon application--something I have noticed can happen with other C products. An expensive, but worthwhile investment if you want healthier looking skin. This is one product I cannot go without.
the comments smelling like bacon and hot dogs are hilarious-- but this product is great. i have really problem skin with some older scarring. i don't feel like this product or any from skin ceuticals is going to make any drastic difference on older problems (you may want to use something more aggressive first, either product or peels from a doctor), but bar none this stuff is worth every penny at hydrating and balancing the skin. your skin will be at it's health potential after using any of these products. i have used alpha aha, ce feurlic, photo , the sunblock... all great.
After using CEF for at least three bottles, I think I am qualified to write a review. I have oily skin and breakout sometimes. I use this product every morning after toner, and wait few minutes to apply lotion and sunscreen. Compared to other Vitamin C product I have used, this one does not clog my pore or make me breakout. My skin looks eventoned much better and light wrinkles become invisible.Greatly recommend to everybody.
This has NEVER been smelly for me. I get a lot of compliments of how good my skin looks and how young I look. For those reasons I will keep using this serum. I love the way it goes on, I feel it is absorbed very quickly. I've used this for at least 4 years.
I have used this product for years and I love it. I had one large brown sunspot on my upper right cheek prior to using the product. I have not developed any new "spot" and the one I have is less pronounced. As for the color and smell...it's chemistry! The odor is an iron smell (ferulic) and the color is due to oxidation when the serum is exposed to the air. Neither bother me..nor do they affect the product's efficacy.

I bought this product because my face was starting to look dull and my pores looked huge every time I put on my makeup. Yes this product does have an interesting smell.... like burnt coffee beans? BUT after just one week of use my skin looks great, my husband noticed instantly! My skin is healthier, my pores are much better looking and my face is overall more youthfull looking. I don't mind the splurge if it keeps me looking great!!!
This is by far my favorite product. It has vitamin C, E and other ingredients that are amazing for the skin. I bought the Obaji C 10% serum and then realized that this product has vitamin c in it, as well. Vitamin C is "L-ascorbic acid". I've been using this product for the past few months and absolutely love it. I can't use other SkinCeutical products(break out from it for some reason & I never break out), but this product is my addiction. :)
I have used this product for many years - it is the best on the market. IT SHOULD NOT BE SMELLY! It should be clear and have only a mild odor. It does age, and should be used within a year of opening. Even unopened, it will go bad, so if yours arrives and is not a clear liquid, send it back. The product does appear to work properly even after it turns smelly.

I received a sample of 5ml from SkincareRX. So far this is one of the best serum I ever tried. Although the smell is not that pleasant, considering the component, vitamine c and e, I could accept the smell. After 1 week used only at night, I could tell my skin get brighter and smoother.

The antioxidants in this are absolutely awesome for sun protection. I have extremely sun sensitive skin (I burn in about 10 minutes in the sun) and I wore it as my serum every day on my trip to Peru underneath my daily SPF 15 moisturizer. My face didn't get burned at all at 12,000 feet above sea level being in the sun all day every day. If you put a good moisturizer and sunscreen over it, you don't notice the stickiness (just don't overdo the 4-5 drops).
Also the stuff that i got from the Doctor was clear in color and had no smell but the stuff that i bought from this website is yellow looking and has a really strong bacon smell , really nasty .
I got some of the same exact stuff from the Doctor and it had no smell what so ever . I bought some from this site and it smells horrible . It is the same stuff it's just that the stuff from this site smells horrible . What is going on ? Do they let it get old before they send it out . Trust me something is not right .
I once purchased skincueticals ce ferulic and I wasn't sure if the product was suppose to be the way it was. Can you help? My ce ferulic sera was a darkened and pale yellow color and it didn't have an expiration date and smelled like hot dogs. I have a feeling its expired. I wondered if it's suppose to be like this. After I spent $125 I thought this sera would be fresh but I use it anyways, my skin broke out with a horrible rash and I had to stop using. no more ce ferulic from skin cuticals anymore
I had been using the AOX+ 20 serum, but this is better. I did not find it sticky, but I only use 3 or 4 drops. The vitamin E makes it more moisturizing that now I dont need a moisturizer between this and my sunscreen. No clogs, no breakouts. Im using this for preventive measures, though if it fades some old acne spots I'll be thrilled!
well I got this because I knew i was at an age where my skin was starting to look a little weathered- (37) so I did a lot of research and bought this. Its has only been one week and people are already commenting that my skin looks smoother and more even toned. I love the way it feels, the way my make up goes on. its just great. worth the money. someone even told me i looked less tired. that made my day. i love this stuff. and everyone is right, DO not put too much on. just a very little is enough.
This is absolutely the best skincare line! I use the CE Ferulic follwed by the B5 Gel every morning. There is no stickiness if you use the correct amount. It doesn't take much. It absorbs beautifully and leaves my skin glowing all day. I have oily, sensitive skin, and this line has completely changed my complexion. The price is high, but worth every penny.

I'm one of those who has spent lots of $$ on SkinCare products since I was in my 20's now in my 40's and have been using Skinceuticals since 1999 when I was introduced to it at an upscale hair salon. Really, have tried to use other products to see if they work better since this one is expensive, but NEVER have found a substitute. I really do look younger than most women my age and I believe at least 30-40% of that could be attributed to this product. It definitely lessens wrinkles, firms the areas where my skin is losing elasticity around my jawline, and gives my skin a more even tone. I use it at night before going to bed faithfully. I've been using this product c ferulic for at least 4 years. Th only way I can tell I am getting results is when people can't believe I"m 55. I do feel good and my skin is easy to take care of. I stay away from the sun and I use a sunscreen all the time. It doesn't get simpler than that!!
I have been using Glycolix products for the past 6 years and I am pretty happy but I have heard so much about the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic that I want to try this, specially to get rid of dark circles an even tone my skin.
Would it be ok to combine this with other Glycolix products?
Can this be used under the eye?
