Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is a stable, lipid-soluble ester form of ascorbic acid, a freeradical scavenger that fights signs of aging while enhancing collagen production for firmer skin. I love this creme over my assorted face serums in the winter. My skin is dry and winter here is dry and windy. My favorite use is over TNS RECOVERY which I find very drying to my facial skin. I also rub it on hands and elbows after the TNS body moisturizer. It is well worth it if you have dry skin.
I love this product, I am nearly 61 years old and have given my skin a hard life, done all the wrong things for many years. This product is delicious, rich without any greasiness, my skins just loves it, it is extremely soothing and calming. I go to the trouble of buying this wonderful product on line as i live in New Zealand and it is not easily available to me - go buy a jar you will LOVE IT.
I have used this product for several months and find it is a deep moisturizing cream that makes my skin feel smooth and nourished. It is also highly recommended by a local cosmetic surgeon. I never noticed any smell and there is an applicator included so you do not touch it with your fingers.
this cream is very rich and good for dry skin types but there are 2 critical problems with it. The first is that it is heavily fragranced and it is not even a pleasant smell at that. Smells more like an old lady's cheap perfume than a skin cream. I don't like fragrance in skin care products anyway because the only thing that they a good for is irritating my skin! I would have thought a more "medical" skincare line like this would be fragrance free as the last thing you want on your face after a peel or procedure is anything irritating. My second problem with this cream is that it is packaged in a jar, which is very unfortunate because it allows all the good ingredients like vitamins and antioxidants to degrade very quickly because they are constantly exposed to air. An airless pump package would have been much better. I also do not like the whole dirty fingers in my pot of cream idea either. If you can get over the strong smell and don't care if the ingredients actually benefit your skin or not then this could work for you I guess. But you would be much better off buying something less expensive in that case.
I totally agree with you, Lara, on both of your above points. I LOVE this cream, but would not give it 4 or 5 stars, based on the fact that I also HATE the smell. I had to laugh when you said it smells like an old lady's perfume, because you are absolutely RIGHT! :) lol...Second, I HATE putting my fingers inside a jar of expensive face cream, even if they are freshly washed....I thik it would affect the cream itself after many dips into the jar. It also does not keep it from going bad as easily. Kate Somerville makes the BEST packaging for her face creams!! Skin Medica should take a tip from her! :)
