key ingredients
CalmPlex™(4-Ethoxybenzaldehyde) → The first and only ingredient proven to inhibit the release of a key natural vasodilator, prostaglandin E2. CalmPlex works to inhibit the release of prostaglandin E2 to stop that progression.274
Vitamin B-3 (Niacinamide) → Improves the barrier function of the skin, increasing moisture content by reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL).277
how to use it
Apply twice daily to face, neck and decollete. Reapply to sensitive or irritated areas if necessary throughout the day. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
Some patients with sensitive skin may experience a momentary tingling sensation that subsides shortly after application and has been shown to decrease over time with continued usage.

This stings on NORMAL, slightly red skin. And does NOT help in the slightest. I also tried it on areas where I had a reaction to another product, and it burned but did not help. I can't imagine using this on sunburned skin (it says it's good for that). I think I'd scream.
I've had irritated redness-prone skin all my life. This product worked wonders on my skin in calming down the redness and irritation. I have very fair skin and burn all the time in the sun. I haven't tried this yet after a sunburn, but would be interested in trying it to see how it works.

Hello, I am sorry to hear of your RRC experience. This is not typical from the feedback SkinMedica has received regarding this product. We would be interested to hear more regarding the reaction that you applied the product on top of; I will consult with SkinMedica's science department for further information on your behalf. Please note that a slight tingling sensation is to be expected with this product, which dissipates rather quickly. The sensation is a natural part of the active ingredient and completely safe and effective. -Kelli
My dermatologist suggested me to use "Redness Relief Calmplex" to get rid of the blothes on my face. After using it, I had no reaction for the first two days. However, the third day, I applied it and I had very bad ichy facial skin including irritation. The skin became dry. Is this normal reaction to this cream? Should I continue using it?
What is the Active Ingredient that causes temporary \"stinging\" or tingling?0
In over 10 years no doctor has been able to diagnose why the skin on my arms, upper chest, and face look sunburned all the time. The rest of my skin looks normal. I do have roseacea on my nose and cheeks. I'm extrememly sensitive to the vitamin Niacin and I'm wondering is this the active ingredient that causes the tingling? Also, I was on Prednisone in high dosage for many years for lung disease which made my skin thinner - has anyone else had it cause this permanent redness on arms and upper chest? I would like to order this product, and if, it could correct the sunburned looking redness on my arms and upper chest, it would be a miracle formula and I would probably buy cases of it! I feel so disfigured and living in New Orleans and with our heat, wearing long sleeves is just not an option.
Since I have only been using for a week I can't expect much change. I gave it 5 stars because the scent is just so yummy! My husband is using for redness on face and neck. We have not felt any irritation or tingling that is mentioned. I have a strange patch of red skin that comes and goes on my arm and my Dr. suggested trying since nothing else has worked to rid me of. I will report back in a few weeks.
Hello, we have heard so many great success stories from physicians and patients with this product! Please do report back and let us know how it works for you and your husband! Remember that this is a treatment moisturizer to be used instead of your usual moisturizer product. The only product that should be applied over RRC is your sun protection for daytime. Enjoy!

Kelli, I am on two prescription creams for acne (Clindamycin - morning, and EpiDuo - night).. I was told to put the Calmplex on after these creams because it is thicker. Will it still be effective being put on after another cream? Thanks in advance!
I like the product a lot but find myself unable to use it during the warmer months because it leaves my skin too dewy and wet in appearance. My skin type has been classified by my Derm. as normal to slightly dry. I'm applying as little as possible but still can't get past the shine and tackiness seen from june to sept.. As the weather cools this is no longer an issue. Also, should i be using an antioxidant based product as well, if so when should I apply it and which product would you reccomend.
