• Expression lines are a result of what we would call “Mechanical Aging”. Mechanical aging is the result of continually repeated muscle movements that are repeated day after day, year after year (smiling, frowning, squinting, side sleeping, etc). Over the years, sun exposure and free radical damage and deplete the elastin levels in the skin, so that each time we smile or wink or frown, our skin slowly loses the ability to completely smooth out the crease from that movement. Eventually, this leads to the permanent wrinkles we know as expression lines.

The best and most efficient way to smooth out these wrinkles is with the use of Botox – which temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for contracting and making a particular wrinkle. Once the repeated muscle contractions stop – the wrinkle smooths out.

Wrinkle-Freezing topicals seek to mimic the same smoothing action of Botox, but without resorting to drastic measures. Instead of paralyzing the muscle, they “muffle” the nerve signal and/or muscle response – so the muscle is still moves, but does not fully contract. They also encourage the muscle to fully relax after each muscle contraction – smoothing out the wrinkle even more.

    Examples of wrinkle-freezing actives:
Gabba Aminobutyric Acid, Argireline, Leuphasyl, Snap 8, Syn-AKE
